Globetrotter
with a feel for fashion

In 2009, Karin Fraidenraij opened her fashion design studio and showroom in the beautiful Wagnerstraße in the Schwabing part of Munich/Germany. This is where the passionate fashionista creates the designs for her label KARINFRAIDENRAIJ.

The Argentinian-born entrepeneur with European and Peruvian ancestors draws inspiration for the cuts, shapes and colors of her wool-knit designs from many sources: As a longtime runway model – discovered by fashion designer Roberto Piazza in Buenos Aires – she was on the catwalk for big names like Escada, Ella Singh, Badgley and Mitschka, Ungaro and Ted Lapidus among others. Her background – and a wonderful preparation for her work as a model – lies in contemporary dance. After studying dance in Buenos Aires she was a founding member of “las sacras pectineum”, a dance theater group that was a driving force in the art scene burgeoning in Buenos Aires after the end of the military regime.

While working as a model, Karin created the basis for career as a designer. She earned a diploma from AMD (Academy for fashion) in Munich/Germany in 2007, took fashion classes at Studio 13 in Milan/Italy and worked as an intern with Ella Singh in Frankfurt/Germany and Adeline Marx in Munich/Germany. Her first creations were designs in denim, presented in collaboration with Hellenics at the Paris fashion week 2006, and her diploma project models presented at Munich Fabric Start 2007.

Participation in international fashion fairs, e.g. in Paris, Berlin, Munich, Amsterdam Collections were also sold to Austria, Japan, Switzerland and Spain, among others.

Today, Karin Fraidenraij distributes her unique designs made of high-quality, sustainable lama and alpaca wool online as well as in her studio store at Wagnerstaße Munich.
